Septic Tank Operation
What is the septic tank operation after flushing your toilet or using water in your home. Waste water flows through the sanitary pipes underneath your home. The waste water enters the INLET of your septic tank (shown above). After entering the septic tank it flows down through a baffle.
After wastewater separates the oils and fats go to the top along with toilet paper and create the scum layer. Sludge settles to the bottom and the middle is where the effluent accumulates. In the 90’s tank manufactures added a wall in their tanks with a slot. That allows for only the effluent in the middle to make it to the OULET side of the septic tank. Effluent goes up into the baffle where it leads out to the drain field and percolates into the ground. For more information on how a septic works click here. Conventional Septic field lines
The Image above illustrates how a septic system is designed. Consisting of a septic tank and field lines. Most septic systems are basic gravity systems. Some have different systems all together depending on the terrain.
Outlet filter tee
Why are effluent filters important for the outlet of your septic tank? Effluent filters stop any debris that may make its way to the outlet side of your septic tank. It filters out large particles that make their way to drain lines. Which can cause a blockage of your drain lines and the gravel bed too. That can lead to costing thousands of dollars and your yard being torn up. The best solution is to prevent that with a effluent filter. Have peace of mind knowing there’s protection devices in place.
